Art (Part 1) and More Inconsistency Squashing
Happy Saturday, Shoppers!
It's starting to get cold in The Mall, Brrr! When the plastic leaves are falling off the fake maple in the kid's play area like they have been today, there's no better time to pick up a pumpkin spice Red Bull to enjoy by a food court heat lamp...
Weather aside, today's update is a bit of a halfway one:
4/8 Playbooks Have Art!
Trust me, I did the math.
Now, the following playbooks have a bit of art to make them look more lively:
- The Denizen
- The Encore
- The Mallmancer
- The Part-Timer
One day, these playbooks may look a bit different if we can one day get funding for a real outside artist, but until then, my 7th grade art class experience will have to do!
More Inconsistency Fixes
Shocker, there was more to be done! There were some small issues regarding the wrong maxes for stat improvements, a stray checkbox here and there, and small spacing problems. I finally figured out what was causing text to move on its own between saves (and it WASN'T warehouse ghosts, as I had hypothesized). Now, things should look a bit better.
Also, I axed the notes section on the playbook sheets. I think having a dedicated notebook, binder, or app is much better than a teeny tiny box. In my experience, these usually don't get used all that much, except maybe for keeping track of additional items (which we have plenty of space for already).
What's Next?
I have a few things in the works for my next update:
First off, I'll be working on finalizing The Tethered and The Trinketeer. I have a good deal of things figured out behind the scenes, I just haven't set digital pen to digital paper in Scribus yet. You'll be seeing them real soon, and I can't wait for it.
Next, I'll be finishing off the art for the last 4 playbooks (Fashionweaver, Mall Rat, Tethered, Trinketeer). This shouldn't take too long, I just need a better idea of the latter 2 before I start.
Lastly, I got a lot figured out for the core book and will be typesetting it in Scribus when all is said and done with the playbooks. This might come with some small tweaks, but I feel very comfortable where all of them are before playtesting.
TL;DR
I'm finishing up the playbooks and will be continuing on with the core book soon. I'm so happy with how things have been going, so I'm looking forward to the next update. Until then, as always...
