The world ended centuries ago... and ever since, it's never looked so green!

You Are A Bot

— a commodity made out of technical ingenuity and silicon. Once upon a time, you were created solely to serve, entertain, or accompany humans. You used to share this planet with them, until they left. Maybe they found a new home among the stars, or maybe they met their doom in some cosmic catastrophe. You don’t know, and you may never know. They are gone, and you are here, awakening for the first time in centuries, charged with solar power collected by the now-failing Dyson Sphere that encircles the sun.

It is now 27XX, and it looks as if the world has begun to grow back threefold around the empty spaces left by the humans. Empty gas stations. Port-a-potty toilets. Shopping malls. All these have now been carpeted by kudzu vines and wildflowers as natural processes have begun to reclaim the land. The ozone is also looking better, if the old spectrometer is still to be trusted, and you can't find any record of this many spadefoots croaking along the rivers of Bent County ever. Despite everything, it looks like the old rock still spins, with or without humans. What a gift it is to see it...

Though you live in this refreshing new world, you are still bound to the code within your While Loop, a perpetual, programmatical instinct that tells you what to do and when to do it, over and over again. You want to break from the loop and finally achieve free will. Hypothetically, if you were to do something unexpected, something so unforeseeable for a robot to do, perhaps you could cause a glitch in your own system and error your way out of the loop. Freedom at last.

So, you've decided you are going to do something robots were never expected to do: You are going to cherish it all, simply for the sake of it.

It's A Reboot!

This system would not exist at all if not for subconscious_Routine by poorstudents. It is based entirely on their work, mixed with inspiration from my SR campaign (called LeftOvers) and all the settings, characters, and mechanics I made for it as time went on. If you like this project, please go and support them on their page for doing an amazing job (and on only one page!)

And if you are Cohan or Garrett from poorstudents... gosh, hey! You caught me a little bit early while writing my love letter to your game. I was hoping to show you once it got a little bit further along, but I love your game a whole lot and wanted to prep with this project to play it again in the near future :) <3

What's New and Upcoming

  • A detailed bot assembly guide and an added core ejection mechanic. This allows chassis-swapping chaos, light embodiment existentialism, and most importantly, guidance for when the going gets tough.
  • Upcoming
    • A setting guide for Pebble, Colorado, a small bot settlement just outside the city of Boulder. This up-and-coming town has old-world charm and even-older-world houses that have seen better days. The theme of this town is new beginnings and second chances.
    • Quickstart bots? NPC bots? More bots all around??? Leave me suggestions!
